word of the year.

01/03/201912/27/2018

Do you choose a word to inspire you each year?

Become.

That is my word is. It is not possible to become who we are meant to be by holding on to the past and remaining who we are.  I love reinventing myself and I want the reminder that I am a work in progress, to let go of what is holding me back and progressing toward my best and true self.

2019 Reading Challenge 52 Week

12/30/201812/28/2018

Calling all adventurers, AKA readers! We’re off to a great new year, ready for a challenge?

The other day I was talking with my 3rd grade reading group and one of them excitedly shared the chapter book they were reading, chapter books are a big deal in 3rd Grade!  It got me thinking about all the ways we have access to books.  In the last 3 weeks alone, I have accessed text in so many ways:  My sister loaned me a book, it was great. Have you read “Girl Wash Your Face” by Rachel Hollis?  In my school library, I checked out a set of 6, grade level books for my 5th grade intervention group.  My daughter read “The Five People You Meet in Heaven” by Mitch Albom at school and had been asking for the sequel.  I wanted to check it out before I bought it for her, plus I love his writing so I downloaded it to my tablet. We also downloaded the Harry Potter series for our recent trip to California so we could re-listen to it as a family. Don’t feel like you have to purchase every book on this list. Borrow from a friend, library or one of the many places that offer eBook downloads.

I am excited to challenge myself and read one book a year, it seems like a lot, but I think we will be surprised at how much we actually read.  What an adventure it will be!

Below are the book prompts, go in order, go backwards or any order you want!  Tag us on Instagram with #398dot2 or #398dot2readingchallenge2019

self-reflection.

12/29/201812/29/2018

One of my favorite things to do at the end of each day, week and month is reflect with journaling to help me create my upcoming goals.  Year End reflection is so important for future goals, it allows you to design the life you want.  Use these questions or some of your own to reflect on 2018 and create some goals for 2019.
